This interactive workshop, offered by the Office of the Registrar and Student Services and facilitated by KPE's Equity Engagement & Student Advisor, will explore various concepts relation to self-advocacy, allyship and solidarity, particularly within a health and physical activity context. Students of all backgrounds are welcome.
Participants will:
Identify the layers in which oppression manifests and provide examples in the context of health education
Draw from a strength-based model to identify examples of resistance to each layer of oppression
Communicate strategies for engaging in self-advocacy and allyship when discrimination occurs, at both the interpersonal and institutional level, including related policies, practices and supports
