On Friday, September 18, 2020, the U of T Sexual Violence Prevention & Support Centre is hosting two events for #IBelieveYou Day from 12 - 1 p.m. and 2 - 3:30 p.m.
All are welcome – students, staff and faculty. Survivors and allies. No one needs to identify as a survivor to attend.
Survivors of sexual violence are often judged, labeled or misunderstood, and it can be difficult to connect with family and friends after an experience of sexual violence. “I Believe You Day” is a day where we can experience the power and healing that can come when we believe survivors.
On September 18th, join guest facilitators Heather Beamish and Kris Hamilton as they create a brave and inclusive space to explore some of the complexities of sexual violence from a holistic approach. Survivors will learn ways to process sensations and emotions through writing, art, and emotions maintenance. Students, staff, faculty, friends, and loved ones will learn how to better support survivors and take care of themselves as they stand in solidarity with survivors.
